Infrared
Security Cameras come in both a bullet and a Dome shape. They are
mostly used for outdoor as outdoor lighting cannot always be
controlled. Infrared cameras are used indoors where there is absolutely no light
and it is pitch dark at night. They have the ability to view in
total darkness 0 lux.
Where
there is an outdoor overhang or awning, a Dome Infrared is usually installed
underneath and can be angled to the desired direction and angle. Where an
outdoor Infrared camera needs to be installed on a wall a Bullet camera is
usually installed using a wall mount.
An
infrared security camera has infrared lighting
(Led’s) installed around the outside of the lens of the camera.
The infrared sensor can see the infrared spectrum and provide us a picture which
cannot be seen by a human eye, the infrared security camera can capture a
picture that looks just like daytime. We use infrared security cameras for
environments that have very low light or no light during night time outdoors or
indoor areas which have no light.
Infrared cameras are often called
"Night Vision" cameras from the ability to see at night. A
common problem with infrared cameras is that they do not function in outdoor
housings because the LED’s reflect on the glass of the housing and cause a
“whiteout” effect. Also when using a infrared camera indoor are pointing to or
through a windows infrared light reflects off the glass of the window and
creates a glare on the picture.
Most
infrared security cameras are weather proof and therefore can
be used inside or out.Almost all
applications where outdoor cameras are needed, Infrared Cameras are used. Most
Outdoor Infrared Dome cameras are also Vandal proof cameras. Vandal proof
cameras are made out of a Polycarbonate
Cover and Metal and are very difficult to break or
steal.
